This is understandablegiven that there are no agreed definitions and the termsare commonly used interchangeably. As supervisors, we are askedto make judgements on the suitability of junior staff for medicalregistration, entry into vocational training programs or receivingthe fellowship of a clinical college. In short, we are asked to assessjunior staff. Clinicians also have roles as teachers and supervisors/mentors.
