There are doctors who devote themselves to their profession, and there are others who escape into alternative careers — George Miller, the film director, and Rob Sitch, the comedian/TV personality/film director, are two famous examples. Then there are those who manage to squeeze two careers into a crowded life. In these personal accounts by novelist/GP Peter Goldsworthy and GP/playwright Ron Elisha, we see these creative writers pursuing a love–hate relationship with the life‐and‐death demands of medicine.
