T he connective tissue diseases are a group of conditions with mu hiorgan involvement typified by pathological ch anges, usually in blood vessels an d conne ct ive tissues. Systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, polymyositis and systemic scleros is, plus rheum atoid arthritis, arc the five classic connec tive tissue diseases. Each of these ca n be associate d with Sjog ren 's syndrome, which in its primary for m may be the mos t common of the connective tissue diseases.
