TABLE: Effect of variable exposure on odds ratios Studies (AVHS), a group set up within the Commonwealth Institute of Health to conduct investigations into the health effects of Vietnam service on Australian personnel, conducted a pilot study to assessthe feasibility of and to test methods to be used in a morbidity survey of Australian servicemen. Methods and general results have been presented elsewhere.>' In the study, four methods of assessing perceptions of wellbeing were used: I. A question in a survey questionnaire asked the male subjects to indicate "how your health over the past 5 years has been: very good, good, fair, poor or very poor". These categories were numbered 1-5.
