Flammable anaesthetics are the dinosaurs of contemporary medicine. While research continues on the “perfect” non‐flammable volatile anaesthetic, diethyl ether, cyclopropane and ethyl chloride have been replaced with halothane, methoxyflurane and isoflurane.
