The Cleft Lip and Palate Conference at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, was established in 1965. Advances in facio‐maxillary surgery make it possible now to re‐position the maxilla and the mandible into satisfactory occlusion by osteotomy in the later age groups.
