Since 2011, Nestlé HealthCare Nutrition, Inc. has led the way in the promotion of enteral patient safety with the introduction of the SpikeRight® PLUS connector, which has become the common industry solution for the reduction of the risk of nutrition end tubing misconnections. Starting in Q1 of 2015, the first step in an industry-wide conversion to a new safety solution on the patient end of the enteral delivery system (administration set to feeding tube) will begin. Nestlé, along with the rest of the Global Enteral Delivery Suppliers Association (GEDSA) will be moving to the ENFit Connector system.
