This paper describes two typical cases of sulphite‐provoked, life‐threatening asthma. Patients with acute asthma who require parenteral administration of corticosteroids should be treated with preparations which do not contain sulphites. The use of metabi‐sulphites as preservatives and antioxidants may need re‐evaluating.
