Quinidine allergy is described in two patients, both of whom had recently taken quinidine bisulphate tablets to control cardiac arrhythmias. An in‐vitro challenge test, in which peripheral blood lymphocytes were cultured in the presence of quinidine, was used to investigate these patients. In both cases, lymphocyte transformation occurred, supporting the diagnosis of quinidine hypersensitivity. This testing procedure may be a useful in‐vitro technique for confirming clinically suspected quinidine hypersensitivity.
