This study reports the investigation and treatment of 31 patients who suffered symptoms suggestive of extra‐cranial cerebrovascular disease and presented to one community practice. It suggests that extracranial cerebrovascular disease may be more prevalent than is generally presumed, and emphasizes the need for better methods of investigation and a more positive approach toward its treatment.
