Five hundred men have been followed up for 12 to 15 months after vasectomy. A simple postoperative regimen for confirmation of sterility has proved to be reliable. This comprised examination of a single fresh seminal specimen after 10 ejaculations, non‐motile sperm being disregarded and the test being repeated only in those rare cases in which motile sperm were found. Sterility was demonstrated for 26% of men within four weeks of operation, and for 69% of them within eight weeks.
