An evaluation of some medical computer applications is presented. Some comparison is made with the British National Health Service. The medical computing systems that are operating are discussed for both their obvious merits, and some of the difficulties and problems facing them. To keep the high standard that Australia enjoys in this field, a coordinated policy of development and constant evaluation of established projects should be maintained.
