People who overdose appear to arouse a mixture of emotions in their attending doctors, some of which are associated with feelings of inadequacy on the doctors' part If this group of people is approached in a logical and emotionally neutral fashion, the problem becomes essentially a manageable one. Perhaps most importantly, by this method a reasonably accurate prediction can be made of whether the person will repeat this pattern of abnormal behaviour.
