In a double blind crossover study, flurbiprofen compared favourably with aspirin in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with the latter drug being given in doses generally accepted as having antiinflammatory effects. Although fairly frequent, the side effects observed during flurbiprofen therapy were of a relatively minor nature and usually related to the gastrointestinal tract.
