A simple valve device for the regulation of flow of liquids is described. The valve consists of only two portions and is able to regulate the flow of various fluids ranging from saline to whole blood, at rates from below 0·1 ml/min to over 3 ml/min, with a flow‐rate variation of the order of 10% per hour. The device can be made in disposable plastic, and supplied sterile at low cost. It is suitable for a range of intravenous infusion procedures.
