A case of asynchronous double primary bronchial carcinoma is presented. The second tumour, an anaplastic carcinoma in the contralateral lung, occurred more than five years after surgical resection of a squamous bronchial carcinoma. The clinical recognition of a second primary carcinoma of the lung is rare and may be mistaken for tumour recurrence. The possibility of a second primary bronchial carcinoma appearing in patients with documented pulmonary neoplasia should not be overlooked.
