Urine tests were carried out for a total of 3,626 schoolchildren in the kindergarten classes of 59 primary schools in Canberra. The survey lasted from July to November, 1973. All children were tested for proteinuria and glycosuria (1,942 boys and 1,684 girls) and the girls were tested for bacteriuria. Twenty‐one children, 11 boys and 10 girls, had proteinuria, i.e., 0·60%. In this total were three girls who also had bacteriuria. Forty‐five girls had bacteriuria, i.e., 2·7%. Two children, both girls, had glycosuria. The survey was carried out with the cooperation of the A.C.T. Health Services, the A.C.T. Branch of the A.M.A. and the A.C.T. Education Authority.
