This report describes a statistical study of the clinical records of 1,449 patients who attended the casualty department of the Adelaide Children's Hospital during the 12 months from October, 1971, to September, 1972. Demographic data, patients' attendance pattern, diagnosis, treatment and dispersal were examined in an effort to identify interrelationships between these factors. The need for research into the patients' attitudes towards primary health care, which might influence the ultimate site of medical care delivery, is stressed.
