Two small, isolated Pacific island communities are described which, on serological investigation, were found to be almost wholly susceptible to measles. Some epidemiological factors thought to have been responsible for these populations having escaped infection are discussed. The immunological and clinical responses of the islanders to inoculation with live attenuated measles virus with simultaneous administration of human immune globulin are reported.
