In a double‐blind study of 65 acute soft‐tissue sports injuries treated concurrently with intensive physical therapy and early active rehabilitation, indomethacin (150 mg daily) demonstrated a slight but statistically not significant superiority over placebo capsules, when assessed after a week's therapy. Relief of pain and reduction of swelling were aspects of significantly enhanced (P < 0·05) effects of indomethacin. Side effects of the drug were minimal.
