A home transfusion programme for children with haemophilia has been reviewed after 15 months' experience. Seven children whose ages range from 4 to 14 years have had cryoprecipitate administered at home by one of their parents on 157 occasions. There have been no serious complications except for local bruising on 12 occasions and two episodes of allergic reactions. The advantages of home transfusion are prompt treatment of bleeding; reduced hospital attendance and admission; reduced need for joint aspiration; improved school attendance; reduced cost to family; and greater self‐confidence and independence of the boy with haemophilia.
