A review is made of the current concepts regarding the place of surgery and chemotherapy in the management of malignant liver carcinoid presenting as the carcinoid syndrome. A case of the carcinoid syndrome is described in which a short but definite palliation of the symptoms was obtained by local removal of numerous hepatic metastases.
