An implanted direct current stimulator has been employed in 12 cases of lumbosacral spinal fusion. Fusion was successfully initiated in 11 cases. Stimulator failure occurred in one case. Radiographic follow up has demonstrated maturation of osteogenesis to a firm metaplastic fusion.
