This presentation concerns 71 patients undergoing direct bypass procedures for angina pectoris. The mode of evaluation and indications for operation are presented, as well as details of the surgical procedure employed. The results indicate that coronary artery bypass surgery relieves angina pectoris in a large majority of patients properly selected. Operative mortality and morbidity have been shown to be low. This procedure, therefore, has a high priority in the management of patients with intractable angina.
