POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS, HEXACHLOROBENZENE AND OTHER ORGANOCHLORINE PESTICIDES IN HUMAN MILK

Milk from 45 women living in the metropolitan area was found to contain DDT and other commonly found pesticides in amounts comparable with those reported in previous overseas surveys. In the present survey, no polychiorinated biphenyls were detected in any sample. However, all samples contained the fungicide hexachlorobenzene, which has been reported in only a few surveys.
