Experience from various endoscopic centres indicates that endoscopic pancreatocholangiography (EPCG) offers a further advance in the diagnosis of pancreatic and hepatobiliary diseases. An assessment of the first 40 patients submitted to EPCG in Australia indicates that the procedure was successful in 70% of cases. In 16 cases both the pancreatic and biliary duct systems were opacified, in eight only the pancreatic duct and in four only the biliary duct system was visualized. In 75% of the cannulations the duct systerrt requiring clarification was successfully demonstrated. Twenty‐one patients derived benefit from the procedure and in eight instances the management of the patient was significantly influenced by the evidence produced with the EPCG.
