A case is presented to illustrate the condition of post‐traumatic cholecystitis which has different causes and a different clinical picture from acute cholecystitis in the uninjured patient. It occurs in an age group in which cholelithiasis is uncommon, and develops two or three weeks after major injury or surgery, usually in young male patients. The condition is worthy of note in order that it may be recognized and properly treated.
