Some of the misconceptions about eyes are presented. These are frequently heard during eye consultations. Some of these misconceptions result in delayed treatment of disease and unnecessary restriction of visual activity. It is explained that using our eyes cannot damage them. The myth of “eyestrain” is discussed. It is also explained that spectacles cannot alter eyes, but simply focus light on the retina. The importance of correct diagnosis of symptoms is mentioned. Some of the traditional home remedies for eye conditions are listed. Finally, a miscellaneous group of misconceptions is presented.
