As the clinical usefulness of co‐trimoxazole finally depends on the superiority of its efficacy over side effect occurrence, two aspects of therapy were studied. These were the frequency of toxic effects, and the Incidence of drug resistance in the two common pathogens Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
