Australian medical students usually receive between 10 and 20 radiology tutorials during their undergraduate training, the average number being 18. Half of them also attend combined clinico‐radiological teaching sessions. Only 20% of hospitals allocate time for their students to observe the work of the X‐ray department from within. Lectures are not favoured as a teaching method, but audiovisual teaching is gaining in popularity. Clinical radiology teaching has only been established for between 3 and 6 years in 15 of 20 general hospitals. In the preclinical years, radiologists play a small part in anatomy teaching.
