The effect of three different dose levels of anti‐D gamma globulin on the clearance of foetal erythrocytes in the maternal blood after delivery is reported. Foetal erythrocytes were detected in 209 of 461 patients studied (45.3%); in only two patients was the transfer greater than 10 ml. Forty‐three of the 461 patients (9%) had persistence of foetal erythrocytes after one injection of anti‐D. Higher post‐injection counts were found in those patients who received low doses of anti‐D and in those with high initial counts.
