Three cases are reported in which the patients had amblyopia with central scotomata and marked loss of red perception. All were chronic alcoholics, all were smokers—but only of mild tobacco—and all were dependent on bromureides. The pathogenesis of their condition is discussed, including the possible role of bromide intoxication.
