The results of a mobile coronary care service which operates in the eastern suburbs of Sydney from St Vincent's Hospital and the Prince of Wales Hospital are presented. The service utilizes hospital staff, portable equipment and the existing ambulance service. The service operates at least as effectively and efficiently as any other previously described, but has additional advantages of flexibility, mobility and low cost. We believe that such a scheme, which integrates easily with existing health services, is probably the best suited for segments of a large city.
