Fourteen pairs of moderately depressed patients, matched for age, sex and severity of symptoms, were treated for 21 days with either doxepin (Sinequan) in a dosage of 50 mg three times a day, or inert placebo, in a double‐blind sequential trial. Doxepin was found to be superior to placebo in relieving depressive and anxiety symptoms.
