Until recently, mycetoma of the foot has been an unknown condition In Australia. Mariat's survey (1963) on the geographical distribution of mycetomas and their causative agents does not register any definite species for Australia. The first case In Australia of an actinomycotic mycetoma of the foot was described by Dementjeva (1970), In Queensland, and the causative organism was identified as Nocardia maduræ. This paper reports a case of mycetoma of the foot caused by Nocardia brasiliensis.
