Four girls suffering from muscular dystrophy resembling the Duchenne type are presented. Their clinical features, investigations and pedigrees are presented in detail. The literature concerning this type of muscular dystrophy In girls is briefly reviewed. A suggestion is made to separate these cases from true sex‐linked Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The separation of these cases seems justified on the grounds of their different mode of inheritance and their more variable course.
