Bilateral selective gastric vagotomy has been performed in 100 consecutive cases. The results have indicated that this operation is associated with good clinical results and a low rate of incomplete vagotomy. An early positive response to insulin testing was obtained in 4·5% of cases, a late positive response in 23·5%, and a negative response in 72·0%. The use of electrical stimulation to test completeness of vagotomy at operation eliminated early positive responses to insulin testing.
