A case of mesenteric arterio‐venous fistula discovered at laparotomy for a right loin stab wound is presented. A review of the available literature highlights a number of features about mesenteric arterio‐venous fistulas. This case is unusual in that the fistula was present at primary laparotomy, and it documents the pathological findings in a mesenteric arterio‐venous fistula only 11 hours old.
