The general problem of Infection with Nocardia is reviewed, and three cases of Nocardia asteroides infection, two systemic and one pulmonary, are presented and discussed. Two were In previously healthy adults. and the third in a patient with advanced Hodgkin's disease. Difficulties in diagnosis, both clinical and microbiological, are emphasized. Two relatively new chemotherapeutic agents were used. In one case cephaloridine effected cure, and in another the infection was temporarily controlled by a combination of trimethoprim and sulphamethoxazole (“Septrin”, “Bactrim”).
