An assessment by any one individual of the way events are likely to turn in the future is very surely coloured by his own background: the primary discipline in which he trained, his postgraduate ventures, his successes and rebuffs, the attitudes of his colleagues and, especially, the measure of self‐determination he achieves and the recognition àccorded him. The more he feels that his own efforts are justly acknowledged, the more tolerant will he be of the aspirations of his peers and, in this tolerance —a luxury in which all in security may indulge—achieve the objectivity of view which a measure of success brings.
