A system of emergency resuscitation used in a 396‐bed general hospital is described in detail. The results obtained by this system are presented and its merits are outlined. The major features are: (i) the development of a highly efficient resuscitation trolley independent of external power; (ii) the Initiation of a régime which marshals all the available medical staff (including administrative) to the scene, and which does not depend on key personnel; (iii) the involvement of all categories of paramedical and nursing staff, all of whom are specifically trained in resuscitation techniques on engagement; (iv) constant updating and improvement of techniques and equipment to achieve simplicity and uniformity.
