The pH method of antibiotic bioassay has been modified to make it suitable for the measurement of penicillins, cephalosporins, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, rifamycins and chloramphenicol. Using the Oxford H strain of Staphylococcus aureus incubated under specified culture conditions, a result was obtained in two to five hours.
