The results of the Maranoa Medical Economic Research Project conducted in 1969 are detailed in brief and discussed. Suggestions are made related to the improvement in regional medical facilities and personnel and particularly visiting specialist consultants. Recommendations are made for taxation deductions for patients’ and necessary attendants’ travelling and accommodation costs (medical and dental). Possible methods of financing the required improvements are mentioned.
