The records of 10 Australian soldiers with penetrating liver trauma in Vietnam are reviewed. The anterior segments of the liver were the segments most often damaged, with jaundice and hypo‐ proteinæmia the principal postoperative complications. Mobilization of the liver by division of its peritoneal attachments is recommended to help manage hepatic haemorrhage.
