An investigation into the antibiotic resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from skin lesions and from the nose of 48 patients in general practice has shown that although the sensitivity to penicillin is much the same as it was in 1958, five cultures from four patients produced cloxacillin‐resistant organisms. The resistance of the staphylococci to tetracycline has increased slightly since 1958, but most organisms in this survey remained sensitive to erythromycin and chloramphenicol. A statistical relationship could be established between nasal carriers and those with skin lesions.
