The preliminary findings are presented In a series of 71 cases of carcinoma of the cervix, in which external beam treatment was the predominant radlotherapeutic technique employed. Twenty‐three patients underwent operation after radiotherapy without any mortality due to the operation. So far, four patients have died with evidence of recurrent cancer, amongst those treated sugicaily. In about half the patients treated, sterilization of the primary tumour was achieved by radiotherapy. A number of locally advanced cancers were observed to shrink in a centripetal fashion, and the surgeon was able to perform a hysterectomy without recurrence.
