A series of 93 patients with the association of congenital heart disease, not surgically corrected, and pregnancy Is reviewed. There were three maternal deaths and a total of 236 pregnancies. It is concluded that pregnancy has very little detrimental effect on patients with congenital heart disease, excepting those exhibiting the Eisenmenger syndrome. In the Eisenmenger syndrome, pregnancy is strongly contraindicated, but for all other patients with congenital heart lesions, the pregnancy should be managed on an individual basis.
