Fifty‐three isolates of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (E.E.C.) were made from 215 rectal swabs collected from 54 Infants In a babies’ home during a three‐month survey from April to July, 1969. There was no statistically significant correlation between the isolation of E.E.C. and the presence of diarrhoea. This indicates that the enteropathogenicity of E. coli is not determined solely by the serological type of the OB antigen. Cross infection in the home occurred rapidly and at a high rate.
