1. The results for 100 consecutive In‐patients with spontaneous pneumothorax treated at the Prince Henry and Prince of Wales Hospitals are presented. 2. Spontaneous pneumothorax has been shown to be a condition predominantly of males. There is a peak incidence among apparently healthy young men, with an increasing association with chronic lung disease in older age groups. 3. Spontaneous pneumothorax is seen to be a condition with a strong tendency to recur. Methods of treatment are discussed, and active management is recommended.
