Four cases of cold injury are reported. The well‐recognized susceptibility of the chronic alcoholic to this type of injury is once again documented. Treatment was along conventional lines, utilizing gradual rewarming, elevation, exposure and antibiotics. Two patients required amputation. Though neither heparin nor low molecular weight dextran was utilized, these agents may help to achieve a greater degree of tissue salvage in cold injury. Finally, it is suggested that the incidence of the milder forms of cold injury may be much higher than is generally accepted, as the patients in whom such injuries are most likely to occur frequently do not seek medical attention.
